Are you a missionary that has you experienced any recent transition? Well there are people who would love to Debrief your experience with you and help you for what you’re transitioning to next!

What is Debriefing?

Debriefing is an opportunity to share your experiences in a structured process with caring, trained people who will give you ample time and space to reflect on them and the impact they are having on all your relationships.

  • Telling your story in as much detail as you like

  • Identifying how your experiences may have impacted you

  • Looking at how you are responding to the situation on a daily basis

  • Discovering new perspectives and respond to Jesus

What Debriefing is NOT:

  • It is NOT counseling or therapy.  While some basic counseling may be involved, we do not get involved in long-term counseling situations.  When appropriate, we will suggest some people pursue follow-up counseling here or in your home country.

  • It is NOT something that is just done when people are not handling a situation well.  Debriefing is a tool that can be used as self-care, not something only to use when everything else has failed.

  • It is NOT an opportunity for administration to gather information, evaluate or confront.  Nothing that is shared in the debriefing process is communicated to anyone else without your full approval and involvement.

Next Steps:

We have a handful of trained Debriefers within our community that specialize in one on one, as well as other styles of team, family or married couples Debriefing!

If you are interested in meeting with a Debriefer, connect with your Circle Leader (who starting in April ‘21 will have a list of the debriefers in our community and can best connect you) or if you are not a part of a Circle yet, email communityhealth@ywammuizenberg.org and we can connect you!
