• Shark Education Center — free, can touch sea creatures and learn a ton- it’s super cool

• Go to the pier to watch the fishermen and often sea lions

• Tidal Pools (Dalebrook) — safe swimming right on the ocean!

• Exploring all the antique / bohemian shops

  • Salt — great tapas, can get really crowded, go early

  • Harbor House Restaurant — seafood, fancy date spot overlooking the ocean

  BREAKFAST / SNACKS:

  • Olympia Cafe — bakery (on the side of the building) which has the best pastries in the area and a great steak sandwich, pet friendly

  • Folk Cafe — a great spot for brunch or a cozy meal by the fire, family friendly

  • Dalebrook Cafe — has great wifi and a little market with fresh baked goods

  • Lekker — coffee shop with free wifi for an hour

  • The Courtyard Cafe — both inside and outside areas for a nice view of Kalk Bay

  • Sirocco — outdoor cafe with baked goods

  • Bob’s Bagels — best bagels in the area- within a cute art shop, or great for take away to the park across the street or walk down to the beach front

SIMONS TOWN :

• Boulder Beach: PENGUINS. On the sides of the main beach (Boulders), there are lesser known, free beaches, where you can swim with the penguins

• Windmill Beach: a sheltered nook where fantastic views of the False Bay coastline with large, natural pool area is ideal for swimming and snorkelling alongside the penguins- you can rent snorkeling gear at the Pisces Dive Shop (Simon’s Town) or find secondhand gear at Great White Sport & Surf (Fish Hoek)

• Shark Cage Diving with organization who free dives / swims with them without a cage— Stingy Nomads, Shark Explorers — email, Expert Vagabond

• Exploring antique shops

• Smitswinkel Bay Beach: it takes a short walk down, but because it is secluded this means it is quieter than many of the other local beaches

CAPE POINT :

• This location is literally the bottom of the world-- look out for baboons- costs a bit to visit, which makes it a safer hike

• Cape of Good Hope Hikes: really great day trip with a guide

• View the plankton Luminesce at night (happens typically in the beginning of winter)

• Learn to forage for food + prepare a meal with Veld + Sea

• Scone Shack — an off the grid venue at Lalaphanzi Farm known for their homemade scones and jam and farm atmosphere

Scarborough — Visit Scarborough Beach and The Village Hub (brunch + kid friendly + deli)

Misty Cliffs — beautiful drive, sand dunes, beaches and beauty

KOMMETJIE :

• Slangkoppunt Lighthouse — you can walk along the sand, or boardwalk to a lighthouse around the cape- plus shells to collect! Perfect spot for a sundowner

• Kitesurfing —is perfect for the more advanced waveriders.

• Imhoff Farms — restaurant and petting zoo, reptile house, camel riding, horseback riding on the beach

• Try the best nachos around at The Green Room

• Kom Chow — Asian food - does delivery in the area (Noordhoek & Capri)

Oceanview — get aromatherapy massages at Havilah Collective (one of our Impact Ministries run by Christina & Kevin Quist— +27 (72) 895-6966‬)

Eagle Park — try the various Microbreweries- Valley Brewery & Taproom, and Lakeside Brewing Co. Also the Deep South Distillery (specializes in gin and a chili vodka)— book a Tasting & Tour

Masiphumelele — Visit Clever Kids (at The Jesus House- one of our Impact Ministries) and get the best meat around at Nangalosa’s

NOORDHOEK :

• Noordhoek Beach: white sand walks or book horseback riding or see the SS Kakapo shipwreck

• The beginning of Chapman’s Peak Drive- you can stop several places along the way- after the tollgate, there’s a boardwalk off to the side that has great views. Check website for open status

• Noordhoek Common —  an open space for activities such as flying kites and playing soccer, it is a perfect place to meet up with family and friends to have a picnic. There are often horses in the paddocks for the kids to see and there is a little stream for exploring and catching tadpoles

  RECOMMENDED RESTAURANTS:

  • Cape Point Vineyard Community Market — food stalls and great food and a view

  • Monkey Valley Resort — not the best food, but great drinks and incredible view and its kid friendly

  • Noordhoek Farm Village — hosts an array of restaurants, pubs, shops and galleries, with a play area for children and, on Saturdays, craft tables, creative play and carnival games for kids aged 3 – 7

    • The Food Barn — tapas, great cocktails and a deli open until 9 pm

    • Village Sushi — sushi & Asian restaurant with wifi

    • The Toad — a great spot to watch Rugby over woodfire pizza

  • Jakes in the Commons — great cocktails and food across from the Noordhoek Common
