Wamkelekile, Welkom, Welcome!
We are excited to welcome you to the staff of YWAM Muizenberg.
As you prepare to come and join what God is doing in South Africa we pray God will continue to prepare your heart. We welcome into the 30-year journey of what God has been doing through YWAM in Cape Town and around the world.
We invite you to our journey of seeking God and joining his body in pursuit of a fuller expression of His kingdom here. As you get ready to join us, we invite you to take the posture of a learner – South Africa has much to teach us all about hospitality, fellowship and the joyful expression of God’s heart in the midst of diversity. We invite you to bring your strengths and your expression of God but to also know that if you allow it, God will prune, sharpen and refine you, as you work side by side with people from South Africa and around the world.
We encourage you to dig deeper into learning about the nation you are coming to serve through learning more about her history and cultures. South Africa is a nation with a deep and complicated story and you would be blessed and more prepared if you take some time to learn more about her before you arrive.
Welcome to this new season of your life. May God continue to lead you and speak to you as you step out in faith.
Blessings, Edwin Fillies, Base Director
Welcome!
The preparation to join long term staff is a unique transitional season, so we’ve compiled some information to help you prepare. We also highly suggest reading this article by Floyd McClung “Long Termers with a Short Term Mentality”- staffing long term, versus being being a DTS student, is drastically different, and hopefully his insights will help you avoid some common pitfalls.
Keep this in mind as a frame of reference if you see something within this information that may not seem to apply to you personally, that we have a very diverse staff and a very diverse group of needs to be addressed. We value it all and the function of this information is to give everyone as many resources as possible.
The goal is to highlight information to help you prepare in practical ways to help set you up for success as you transition to staffing with us. There are suggestions about tangible things (what paperwork to have in order), as well as suggestions about joining in with our community (a training on cross cultural dynamics), and more.
On the tabs to the left we’ve compiled a Pre-Orientation Resource that is available for staff preparing to transition into full time staffing here with YWAM Muizenberg.
