SPECIALIST RESOURCES :

Join Us in Equipping and Empowering Our YWAM Missionaries

We believe that the responsibility for the health of our community can’t be delegated to a team of people- but instead we want to follow the heart of Ubuntu to have collective ownership over our community health, what does that look like?

  • If you have vision for something (for example, childcare during Base Worship)- let’s chat and figure out what resources you need to make that vision possible!

  • If you have something you want to share with us- be that a training you can give, a talent or skill you can contribute, etc. Let’s chat and figure out how to facilitate something for you!

We’d love to empower you to share or connect you with other people that may have the same vision!

- Thobelani (point person for Community Health)

To learn more about the many aspects of Community Health (aka Member Care), there’s this free 30 day course from Harry Hoffman that provides an overview of topics

If you don’t have anything specific on your heart, but want to partner with visions that are already happening…

Ideas During the Coronavirus:

  • Cooking— the Kitchen on Base is needing help in the kitchen to prepare food for those that can't go shopping or live in self-isolation, message them if you are able to help (you aren’t in self-isolation)

  • For the Artists— We would love to have art around our Base— from photography, graphic design, things sewn, etc. We would love to have art inspired by this beautiful nation where we live— or even art inspired by the nations you’ve come from!

  • For those that Sew— There are a couple of projects from making pillows and installation pieces for the Staff Development Track classroom

  • We’ve been working on compiling a new Orientation Packet, if you’re interested in helping compile information as a resource

  • Those that love handiwork— there are a lot of projects that can still be done around our Base buildings

  • Host an online webinar— if you have a skill or knowledge about something- be that stress management, spiritual giftings, conflict resolution, spiritual warfare, etc. Bless our community by allowing us to learn from you online!

  • Fundraise for the Ubuntu Center— the world has been deeply impacted economically in these times, but for some the offer for investing in the future missions will be an increased value- reach out to supporters, churches, large corporations locally and ask them to partner.

  • Website Building— if you know how to build a website, our Impact Ministry Bright partners with different non-profits and YWAM Bases around Southern Africa, and could use help putting together websites for ministries

  • Graphic Designers— there are a few PDF’s that we want to design in collaboration with a few authors and other brilliant minds as resources to our community- but want someone that can make the information aesthetically beautiful, we’d love to partner with you

Ongoing needs

There is a spectrum of needs within Community Health, so just some ideas

  • Frontier Missionaries— we have sent out missionaries that could use a point person to connect with

  • Missionary & Third Culture Kids— there’s an extended community of MK & TCK’s that could use empathy and care

  • Celebrations— if you love to throw parties and celebrate special occasions within our community

  • Church Connections— if you love the Church, having someone that connects with the local churches in our community to foster trust would be a gift for educating about current and the future of missions and how to partner with the missionaries in our midst

  • Those that love to cook— sign up to provide a meal or two a quarter for School Leaders and those in our Leadership to encourage them in all they are doing to be present within Training

  • One on Ones for staff— the Staff Development Track is compiling a list for new staff members to have one on ones!

  • Spiritual Refreshment— if you have a heart for spiritual rhythms and practices, it would be incredible to have people routinely finding ways to encourage our staff in this spiritual self care

  • Take notes in the Staff Meetings

If you’re interested in hearing more about any of these ideas, or if they inspired you for other initiatives, let us know!
