Our Vision

Our Strategic Imperatives

Trauma-Informed Care

Compassionate support grounded in an understanding of trauma’s impact and recovery pathways.

There are six elements necessary for an organisation to operate in a trauma-informed manner. They are:

  • Felt Safety: Throughout the organisation, guests and staff feel physically and psychologically safe

  • Trustworthiness & Transparency: Decisions are made with transparency, and with the goal of building & maintaining trust.

  • Peer Support: Individuals with shared experiences are integrated into the team and are viewed as integral to our ability to deliver quality care.  Attention is paid to cultural distance wherever possible.

  • Collaboration: Power differences– between staff & guests, and amongst organisational staff – are levelled to support shared decision-making

  • Empowerment: Guest & Staff strengths are recognised, built upon and validated– this includes a belief in resilience & the ability to heal from trauma

  • Humility & Responsiveness: Biases & stereotypes (e.g. based upon race, ethnicity, age, geography, or nationality) and historical trauma are recognised and addressed

Holistic, Spirit-led Counselling & Debriefing

Integrated mental, emotional, and spiritual care led by clinical wisdom and Christ-centered insight.

We recognise four distinct areas in which a family can suffer or flourish & we strive to meet them & provide care in each of these spaces:

  • Spiritual Health

  • Mental/Emotional Health

  • Physical Health

  • Relational Health

Our team covers a range of differentiated levels of care, with different specialties.  We pull in specific specialists as needed, but believe strongly in every member of our care team having the requisite experience & qualification to speak to the situations they are invited to.

A Shame-Free Environment

A safe, nonjudgmental space where honesty is met with dignity and grace.

Our primary aim is to foster safety and healing. We treat addiction as a disease rather than a simple moral failure, and strive to pursue compassionate, attainable recovery.

Confidentiality

Every conversation is protected with the highest standards of professional privacy and trust.

Our primary purpose is the flourishing of the families that come, not their sending organisation’s mission.  While we take referrals from organisations, we do not provide reports to them on the status or well-being of our guests.  What they share, they share in confidence that they are not undergoing any form of performance review.

*we are subject to South Africa’s mandated reporting laws and operate in compliance with them*
