ABOUT OASIS

What Grounds Our Care.

Our values and Christian faith shape the way we welcome people, make decisions, work together, and steward the trust placed in us.

WHAT UNDERPINS EVERY PROCESS

Our Core Values

Our Whole Being Matters

We believe every person is a whole being: mind, body, spirit, and relationships, with each dimension interconnected and essential to flourishing. Too often, one aspect of health is addressed while others are neglected. At Oasis, we take an integrated approach that recognizes the physical, relational, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of a person’s life. We believe lasting renewal involves caring for the whole person and that God desires people to experience increasing health, freedom, and wholeness.

02

Service from a Place of Health

We believe those who care for others must also be cared for. Sustainable service requires attention to our own emotional, mental, spiritual, physical, and relational well-being, as well as the health of our families and closest relationships. We actively encourage our team to pursue healthy rhythms of work, rest, renewal, and support so that care for others flows from a grounded and sustainable place rather than chronic depletion.

03

Hospitality That Reduces Mental Load

Pain, loss, adversity, and trauma are part of the human experience, and they shape the ways we understand ourselves, relate to others, and move through the world. We seek to help people recognize the impact of what they have experienced without shame or judgment, while extending compassion toward themselves and others. We hold hope that healing, growth, redemption, and restoration remain possible even in the presence of profound suffering.

04

Freedom from Shame

We believe shame has no constructive place in healing, growth, or spiritual formation. Shame isolates, hides, and condemns; grace creates space for honesty, connection, responsibility, and change. We are committed to cultivating an environment where staff and guests can be fully seen without fear of rejection, humiliation, or punishment.

We do not use shame as a means of control or correction. We believe meaningful transformation happens in the presence of both grace and truth, where people experience deep acceptance while also finding the courage to grow, take responsibility, and live with increasing freedom.

01

Formation & Wholeness

We believe people are designed to continue growing throughout their lives toward greater freedom, wholeness, maturity, and truth. Healing and transformation are ongoing processes that require courage, openness, humility, and grace.

As we become more whole ourselves, we become increasingly able to love, lead, and serve others authentically. We therefore invite both guests and staff to remain engaged in their own process of formation, trusting that growth is possible and that no person is ever a finished product.

06

Practicing the Journey

We believe people are designed to continue growing throughout their lives toward greater freedom, wholeness, maturity, and truth. Healing and transformation are ongoing processes that require courage, openness, humility, and grace.

As we become more whole ourselves, we become increasingly able to love, lead, and serve others authentically. We therefore invite both guests and staff to remain engaged in their own process of formation, trusting that growth is possible and that no person is ever a finished product.

07

A Qualitative Approach

We recognize the value of organizations designed to reach large numbers of people efficiently. Oasis intentionally occupies a different space. We believe deep transformation often requires time, attention, relationship, and the opportunity to slow down.

For this reason, we prioritize depth over scale. We intentionally limit the number of people we serve at one time so that those entrusted to our care can receive meaningful attention, thoughtful support, and an experience shaped around their particular needs. We measure success not simply by how many people we reach, but by the quality and integrity of the care we provide.

08

Equality and Inclusiveness

We believe every person possesses inherent dignity and worth. A person’s place in community should not be determined by race, gender, nationality, socioeconomic status, or other outward characteristics, but approached with respect for their humanity, calling, gifts, experiences, and unique story.

Our mission is to serve people who are hurting without judgment or partiality. We seek to create spaces where differences are treated with dignity, where people are listened to with curiosity and respect, and where care is offered with compassion and grace.

05

Sustainable & Faithful Stewardship

We believe meaningful work must be sustainable for both the people doing it and the organization carrying it. Sustainability means pacing our work and growth in ways that allow us to serve with longevity, depth, integrity, and joy.

We honor healthy limits financially, emotionally, spiritually, relationally, and physically. We seek to live within our means, steward resources carefully, and create rhythms that allow our team to work well, rest meaningfully, and remain healthy over time.

For us, sustainability is an expression of faithful stewardship: caring responsibly for the people, resources, relationships, and opportunities entrusted to us so that our work can endure without sacrificing the well-being of those who carry it.

10

Confidentiality and Felt-Safety

We uphold strict confidentiality regarding personal information entrusted to us, whether concerning guests, staff, or leadership matters. We believe meaningful healing requires an atmosphere of trust and felt safety in which people know that their stories and privacy will be protected.

We will not report on the personal experiences of an individual or family to a sending organization, funder, employer, or other outside entity, except where disclosure is legally required. Each person has the right to decide whether, when, and with whom they share their own story.

We also recognize the harm caused by gossip, speculation, and slander and actively resist these within our organizational culture. Protecting the dignity, privacy, and safety of the people entrusted to us is fundamental to the way we work.

11

Informed & Grounded Care

We believe caring for people requires both compassion and competence. Our work is grounded in our Christian understanding of the person as God’s creation while also being informed by contemporary psychology, trauma research, and established professional practice.

We are committed to high standards of clinical, ethical, relational, and spiritual care through ongoing supervision, reflection, learning, and professional development. We recognize emotional, relational, physical, neurological, and spiritual realities as interconnected aspects of human experience.

We do not see faith and clinical understanding as competing explanations of human experience. Rather, we believe they can inform one another and contribute to a richer, more integrated understanding of healing and wholeness.

11

Distinct Roles & Boundaries

Oasis is a place of care, healing, restoration, and formation, but it is not a church. While spiritual well-being is an important dimension of our work and organizational life, we do not seek to become anyone’s primary source of pastoral care, spiritual community, or discipleship.

We encourage staff, volunteers, and guests to cultivate meaningful spiritual lives and healthy communities of belonging beyond Oasis. We respect the diversity of traditions, practices, and expressions through which people nurture their relationship with God.

Within Oasis, our relationships are characterized by compassion, spiritual awareness, professional integrity, and appropriate boundaries. We seek to support each person’s spiritual journey without assuming ownership of it.

09

Mutual Submission & Accountable Leadership

We believe healthy leadership requires humility, accountability, and a willingness to both lead and listen. Authority carries genuine responsibility, but it should never place someone beyond question, feedback, or correction.

Every member of our organization, regardless of role or seniority, remains a learner and shares responsibility for the health of our community. We welcome honest feedback offered constructively and seek to maintain clear pathways for concerns, disagreement, and accountability without fear of retaliation or favoritism.

We believe leadership is healthiest when authority is exercised in service of others, when responsibility is clear, and when those who lead remain open to being challenged and changed. This posture of humility and mutual accountability is essential to maintaining Oasis as a trustworthy and healthy organization.

How Faith Informs Our Work

While our Faith informs our value for the people we serve, it does not govern or dictate the entirety of our approach. We are not a proselytizing organization, but one which seeks to facilitate healing.

In our frame of reference There are Four primary expressions for holistic healing:

  • Physical

  • Mental/Emotional

  • Spiritual

  • Relational

We see Faith as part of the picture, but not the whole picture. We are more than happy to work with individuals or families who are uncomfortable in Faith-driven spaces, or who are uncomfortable with Christians in particular.

Our Christian Foundation

1. The Holy Scriptures

We believe that the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are inspired by God and serve as the authoritative witness to God’s revelation and the foundation for Christian faith and life. (2 Timothy 3:16–17; Hebrews 4:12)

2. The Triune God

We believe in one God, eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the Creator and sustainer of all things. (Matthew 28:19)

3. Jesus Christ and Redemption

We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, fully divine and fully human, who lived among us, died for the sins of humanity, rose from the dead, and reconciles the world to God. Through Him, forgiveness, restoration, and new life are made possible.

(John 1:1–14; 2 Corinthians 5:18–19)

4. Humanity and the Image of God

We believe that all people are created in the image of God and therefore possess inherent dignity and worth. Humanity has been broken by sin, yet God continues to pursue restoration and redemption for all people. (Genesis 1:26–27; Romans 3:23)

5. Salvation and New Life

We believe that salvation is the gracious work of God through Jesus Christ, bringing forgiveness of sin, reconciliation with God, and the beginning of new life through the Holy Spirit. This new life grows through faith, repentance, and participation in the life of the Church. (Ephesians 2:8–9)

6. The Church and the Mission of God

We believe the Church is the body of Christ and is called to worship God, proclaim the Gospel, care for one another, and serve the world in love. (Matthew 28:19–20)

7. Human Flourishing in Christ

We believe that God's redemptive work restores individuals, families, and communities toward the fullness of life intended by God. In Christ, people are invited into healing, reconciliation, spiritual renewal, and the restoration of relationships with God, self, and others. (John 10:10)

8. Compassion for the Poor and Vulnerable

Following the example and teaching of Jesus Christ, we believe that care for the poor, the suffering, and the vulnerable is an essential expression of Christian faith. The Church is called to practice generosity, mercy, and justice, seeking the good of those in need and bearing witness to God's love through acts of compassion and service.

(Luke 4:18; Matthew 25:35–40; James 2:14–17)

9. The Ministry of Care and Hospitality

We believe that caring for those who are weary, burdened, or wounded reflects the heart of Christ. Through hospitality, prayer, rest, and compassionate care, the Church participates in God's work of renewal and restoration. (Matthew 11:28; Galatians 6:2)

10. The Hope of New Creation

We believe in the future return of Jesus Christ and the fulfillment of God's promise of a new heaven and a new earth. (Revelation 21:1)
