Several missionaries in our community when they feel confident in their Call long term to this context, look into purchasing a home. God has provided in a variety of incredible ways and we love to share the stories to stir up faith in our community!

  • If you are praying about purchasing a home, keep in mind that there is a significant deposit required if you are looking into getting a home loan as a foreigner, so some of the strategies that those in our community have done :

    • Approaching supporters or family to fundraise for a home

    • Approaching supporters or family to give a private home loan as an investment opportunity - for example, they would get 5% interest over the course of the loan repayment, and you would have a home loan that has a lower interest rate than you could get as a foreigner in South Africa! (for more advice about this option, you can chat to the Aijians)

  • You can look up properties for buy on Property24 or PrivateProperty. When you start to look at properties, it is advised that you ask and pray about:

    • What purpose is God putting on your heart for this house - is it to be a home for ministry? For rest for you and your family?

    • How large of home do you require for your current and future needs? Does the home have space for adding on?

    • Do you have the capacity to do home renovations or are you needing a home that is “move in ready”? Keep in mind that home renovations here take more time and energy than you can ever prepare for unless you pay a lot of money for an overseer

  • If you are a foreign national looking to hire a lawyer that has worked specifically with overseas accounts, the Aijians have had great success with Carol Wiggett
